Genotype Test
Genotype test is a sensitive medical investigation that helps you determine the kind of hereditary trait you possess as an individual.
Genotype test result is that information every intending couple and everyone MUST have and keep handy everytime. There are various forms of genotype that has been diagnosed, viz-a-viz AA, AS, AC, SC, SS, CC.
AA has been considered the strongest genotype in many circles, yet it is not without its weak points. AS and AC are also fantastic genotypes, yet they are not without week points too.

Someone who has AA genotype has 100% capacity to marry every other type of genotype. It is not advisable for persons with other genotypes to marry each other, else there may be the risk of having one or more sickle cell child(ren).
Consider these Facts:
This may be because they say, “love is blind”. Other reasons may include fears of losing a lovely partner, and having to wait again to go through the rigor of getting another interested person, and building a new relationship. Ignorance of the genotype test and repercussions of not conducting it is another reason.
Also, some think blood group test is the same as genotype test. But in actual sense they are mistaken. Both should be done together i.e. you don’t do one and neglect the other.
Genotype test is one of the most essential medical investigations, you must insist on carrying out before getting madly in love with anyone. This is because failure to do this test in a reliable medical diagnostic facility has put lots of families under undue pressure and stress of birthing a sickle-celled baby (with SS genotype).
I mean the pressure you get when your child suddenly begins to feel weak, look fragile, and fall sick repeatedly with or without knowing what the problem are, or how to be of help to your own child. Can you try to imagine that stress you get when you and/or other members of your family have to keep donating pants blood to save your anaemic (having limited blood) child from dying.
Talk about the psychological stress, the emotional trauma and the financial stress it brings to the family, especially when you have to make special financial budget to take care of your sickly child each month (as sickle cell crisis can come up at any time) .The trauma of seeing your sick child in perpetually or periodically in pains is never a funny experience. Avoid it as you do a monster. Do your genotype test NOW!!!
Come to think of it, combining marriage, family commitments and work may be very stressful sometimes; you must ensure you do not add to it by any act of negligence on your part as you try to find a suitable conjugal mate.
Though genotype test may be so cheap to carry out in any laboratory, do not attempt to take it for granted. I will advise you to go ahead and repeat it in a different laboratory, ignoring the double cost implications, if you can. You may find the outcome of this experiment interesting. Try it out TODAY!!! Do all within your power to Say NO!!! to SS, it’s a monster.
